Shopping without spending money

Posted by shespeaks0 on April 4, 2011

This morning I got a $50 Old Navy gift certificate for free.

No, of course, not much in the world is really “free” but I got this gift card without spending money.  All I did was use points that I had accumulated at MyPoints.com to purchase the gift card as a reward.

I love MyPoints because it pays me to do things I would be doing anyway, as well as for doing simple tasks.

Here’s how I use MyPoints:

  • I print coupons through their website (they’re connected to Coupons.com.)  10 points per coupon redeemed plus 25 bonus points if I redeem 10 or more per month.
  • I click through their website to do online shopping whenever possible and earn points that way.
  • I receive “paid e-mails” which I simply have to click on to earn an average of 5 points each.  (No purchase necessary.)
  • I chose to download their toolbar, and I get points for every search that I do per month.
  • I also get paid for referring people to MyPoints, so if you’re feeling generous and want to use my link to join, please leave me a comment with your e-mail and I’ll send an e-mail your way.

If you choose to take advantage of the offers in MyPoints.com’s paid e-mails, you can accumulate points much faster, but if you’re just a “casual” user like me, you can expect to earn enough points for a $50 gift card every few months.  (If you’re not as patient, you can also get $25 gift certificates for fewer points.)

My good deal of the day today was courtesy of Moneysavingmom.com.  I got a pack of 140 Size 4 Pampers Cruisers Diapers for about $26 shipped from Amazon.  That’s about $.18/diaper.  The deal is also available for 160 size 3 diapers.  Check out the deal HERE.

Did you get any great deals today?

Weight Watchers Smart Ones Coupon

Posted by shespeaks0 on July 20, 2009

Go to this link for $1 off of 1 Weight Watchers Smart Ones entree at Target.  You can print a bunch of them.  (I think I printed 10, but I stopped trying to print at that point.  Maybe it allows you to print more!)  This is a Target only coupon, but remember, that means you can also use manufacturer’s coupons in conjunction with the Target coupons if you have them.  What a deal!!

For Target store coupons, check the “Organic Grocery Deals” link on the right side of my blog once in a while.  (Some of them are outdated right now, so make sure you check the expiration dates.)

A (little known?) fact about coupons

Posted by shespeaks0 on July 17, 2009

Did you know that the coupons in Sunday’s paper vary with the region – even within your own state?  We have a Sunday paper delivered, and we also get coupons from my parents and my in-laws, who both live in Massachusetts but get different Sunday papers.  My parents get the Worcester Telegram and Gazette,  my in-laws get the Boston Globe and my husband and I get the Eagle Tribune.

Although most of the coupons are the same, there are some coupons that we don’t get in my area that they do get in other areas, and vice versa.  I’ve noticed a few times that the Boston Globe insert had a coupon for $1.00 off of one of something, while my paper had the same $1.00 off coupon, but instead of $1.00 off one, it was $1.00 off of two!

The moral of this story is that if you know people in different areas well enough to beg them to save their unused coupons for you, you may end up getting better coupons than the ones that are delivered to your door!
